Cherry juice hailed as superfood with equivalent of 23 portions of fruit in a single glass

Consuming a glass of cherry juice each day provides the same health advantages as eating 23 servings of fruit and veggies, research discloses.

It found 250ml from the juice contained more anti-oxidants than five servings of peas, tomato plants, water melon, celery and blueberry.

Previous studies have proven that anti-oxidants - which target dangerous molecules in your body known as toxins - might help prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease, stroke and ageing.

The study, brought by Dr Robert Verkerk and released in Dietary Specialist, in comparison the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity - the amount of anti-oxidant in food - of 25ml of diluted cherry juice concentrate with assorted food and veggies.

It found the ORAC degree of cherry juice was 8,260, in comparison with 1,790 for fruit and veggies.
